HEEL makes room. Put it on the guitars, key it from the vocal, and the guitars give up a few dB right where the vocal sits, only while the vocal is singing. The rest of the guitar sound stays put, so nothing pumps.
Three ways to key it.
A sidechain from another track, MIDI notes, or the host's tempo, so it can duck on every beat without a trigger track.
One band or two.
Duck with a bell, a low or high shelf, or the full range, and add a second band if one isn't enough. It only ever cuts, never boosts.
Middle or sides.
Duck the whole stereo image, just the middle where the vocal lives, or just the sides.
How it stays out of the way.
When nothing is ducking, HEEL passes audio through untouched, bit for bit. Hold keeps it from chattering between words, and a little lookahead lets it start ducking just before the vocal arrives.
Tip: Feed the sidechain from the vocal before its reverb and delay sends. Otherwise the tails keep the guitars ducked after the phrase ends.
With ENTROPY. Link it and HEEL's detector and timing parts age and warm up like real hardware: the threshold wanders a little, attack and release drift, and the pots turn scratchy. With no key signal, audio still passes through untouched.
