RIDER

It writes the fader ride. You fix the three moves it got wrong.

Record a pass and RIDER works out the fader ride that holds the vocal at your target, then draws it over the level it was worked out from. Where it's wrong, like a laugh, a held note or a breath it flattened, you draw over it with the pencil or a straight ramp.

  • Your moves stay yours.

The parts you drew stay tinted, and Recalculate leaves them alone.

  • Set the limits.

RANGE UP and RANGE DOWN cap how far it rides, SPEED sets how fast, and HOLD sets how long it waits before letting go.

  • Shape every move.

Each move eases in on one of four curves: linear, exponential, logarithmic or S.

How it listens.

A K-weighted detector hears loudness roughly the way you do, and RMS is there if you prefer it. Up to 50 ms of lookahead lets a move start just before the word. Anything below THRESHOLD, like breaths and bleed, is left alone.

With ENTROPY. Link it and each channel's VCA ages with the room: rides get slightly shallower when the room runs hot and deeper when it's cold, and left and right drift a little apart. Your knobs, chart and moves stay exactly as you set them.
